JACOBS PRIDE'S GUARDIAN

It would be hard to begin the introductions of the Jacobs Pride herd without beginning first off with our loyal guardian, true sentinel and Jacobs Pride best friend. May I introduce my beloved Pib.

Pib is a Great Dane. Great Danes are a working dog, and not considered LGD quality, however, Pib is unique and a match for the best of any dog in the guardian dog breeds. She was not planned nor was she ever expected to fill those demands of a LGD but fill them she has to the highest degree.
What does one say about their dearest 4-legged companion and friend, who loves totally, unconditionally and loves all that I love? How do I share a part of her with you?
Pib was our clown, our Pain In Butt (Pib) puppy. All our puppies had call names before leaving for their permanent homes. Pib was the life of the party in the litter and the pup who was always under foot, bouncing and laughing. She was prearranged for a show home but our heavenly Father had other plans for her.
Pib is a Parvo survivor. When the dreaded Parvo struck our litter, it canceled Pib’s predetermined arrangements of a home outside of ours.
It was a long, hard battle. Our vet implanted shunts into the veins of their little front legs, to administer the life giving fluids through IV. It was an around the clock vigil, which is so desperately needed during a Parvo battle. Pib was among 3 survivors out of her 6 littermates who were infected.
Pib’s young life was a tough one. After a heart wrenching 2-week battle to save her, she barely had time enough to heal from the Parvo tribulation before encountering two, similar growth ailments. Both of which I’ve since forgotten the names for.
The pain Pib endured from those growth ailments was excruciating. Many a countless week she would lay and cry in pain at the mere touch of a joint or movement she underwent to rise, walk or lay down. It was not until she was a 1 ½ years old that she began to feel normal once again and move without pain. Pib’s love and heart she has kept her going through such racking pain, giving us the strength to hang on to her with all the love and nurturing I could humanly provide.
