A Day To Be Remembered. This was quite a morning for Rockelle, Gordy and I. Although, for all we know, it could have started for Rockelle sometime late last night.
Rockelle didn’t rise for the morning’s feeding, to eat hay with her herd mates, only to discover the reason she was unwilling to rise was due to a broken rear cannon bone. YIKES!
With our vet out of town, (isn’t that the way it always goes) an immediate solution was needed. The only thing for us to do, was to set to the task at hand and set her leg. We are praying for the best for Rockelle and do ask you join us in that prayer for her complete recovery. The course of therapy I’ve chosen is, naturally Banamine for two days, to combat any swelling and pain. Pen G for the antibiotic, with such a severe break. Adding to these basics, I’ve included ½ cup Kefir with AniFlex GL and 6000 mg. vitamin C crystals added to the Kefir twice a day. Hoping this will help in her bone healing. As of tonight, Rockelle’s attitude was bright, happy and she seemed unfazed by the whole ordeal, moving around as best as can be expected with a great appetite. What a welcome sight.
We are unsure of the long term outcome only using as soft cast/brace and can only pray for the best regarding the bone’s healing, but as of this evening, hope is seen; only time will tell the end of this story.
