2008 Pima County Fair
What a grand start to the 2008 show season Jacobs Pride had!
Pima County Fair is the largest and most competitive show in Arizona and one we all look forward to with great anticipation. Pima seems to set the stage in looking at how we're all doing in our breeding programs and how our herds stack up, giving us all a feel for the upcoming show season.
Pima had nearly 540 entries and hosted an ADGA Nationally recognized judge, Susan Barker, from Canada, who was our judge for this year's show.
SGCH. Jacobs Pride Hollywood Star 7*M was awarded the GCH. Nubian doe and BOB. But the highlight came for us when Holly was awarded the BDIS!

The excitment continued when SGCH. Jacobs Pride Star Crystal 9*M aka; Crisy
was awarded the RGCH.

Another outstanding highlight, and one I truly treasure along side of Holly's BDIS, was being awarded the
Best 3 Females in Show!
A tremendous honor to win! The trio who made up the Best 3 Females were;
SGCH. Jacobs Pride Hollywood Star 7*M
SGCH. Jacobs Pride Star Crystal 8*M
SGCH. Jacobs Pride Butterscot Pudd'n 8*M
Our highlights were:

1st place milking yearling

Best 3 Females In Show
Spring marches on.

As our babies begin multiplying, so do our visitors. Friends and family come for their annual “baby fix”. It is truly intoxicating even for us veterans who have become addicted to our love of goats. Can any of us truly describe the feeling of warmth and affection that washes over us from holding a kid which snuggles in our arms and nuzzles in our neck or nibbles on an earlobe?

We finished with a splash of color out of Candy Kisses, naming her daughter Butterfly Kisses 4U
Scotch finished up, surprising us with a single kid out of the clear blue. I had questioned all along if she was bred. She surprised me and give us the icing of the kidding season with a beautiful single doeling, we’ve named Za Scotish Mist.
Our kidding season ended with a total of 27 bucks and 10 doelings. Two young ladies went into new homes while the remaining 8 we chose to remain with us and freshen out. All in all, it was a good season. All our does had easy births and no major complications thank God. I’m grateful for what the Lord provided.

It’s hard to let go of our babies maturing into young, energetic kids which are full of bounce and abounding energy, as they grow past the point of baby snuggles. Yet, the kids always seem to know they are never to big for a snuggle. Even our mature milkers look for hug coming into the milking parlor or their kiss upon leaving.

Beginnings of our new year.
Our new year started out sweet. Our juniors had been bred to our junior herd sire, Ben Hot For U and our first doe to freshen of the year was one of those juniors, a yearling named DarMar, who kidded at 6 pm on Jan. 30th. She had a picture perfect labor and delivery that was smooth and easy, presenting us with a beautiful daughter. She is a pretty doeling, patterned in her dam’s image. Even better, DarMar was no disappointment as a first freshener, as we all hold our breaths with our first fresheners, awaiting what we’ll see and hoping the mammaries will match their beauty. With a doeling so lovely, we chose the name, Jacobs Pride All The DarMar 4U and fondly call her "Ally"
